Job description
About the role

As the Home of Entertainment, entertainment is and always has been a huge part of Butlin's business. We are passionate about producing and delivering great quality entertainment and we're looking for talented Lighting Engineers to join our Technical Support Team.

Location & Employment

Department: Ents & Leisure
Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time
Location: Bognor Regis

Responsibilities

As a Lighting Engineer, you will add magic to performances through the creative use of lighting. You will be responsible for the set up and operation of lighting systems for our jam‑packed entertainments programme and will assist in the creative design and delivery for some of our shows. You will also work closely with artists, performers and the wider Technical Team to ensure our entertainment continues to delight our guests and create memories that last a lifetime. Your expertise in lighting will help bring our shows to life—adding atmosphere, emotion, and a touch of magic to every performance.

As well as setting up and operating our lighting systems, you will also be responsible for basic system maintenance and repair if required.

With a wide variety of entertainment on offer at Butlin's, you’ll work across a diverse range of productions. While some shows are fully pre‑programmed, we also rely on our technicians to contribute creatively to the design and execution of lighting for many live performances. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine technical skill with artistic flair in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.

Our venues are equipped with MA lighting consoles. While prior experience with MA systems is desirable, full training will be provided during your first 90 days. We’re looking for creative, passionate individuals who can bring flair and originality to the role—people who are excited to contribute to the visual impact of our shows.

About you

We’re looking for experienced Lighting Engineers with a working knowledge of various lighting consoles, with Avolites and MA Lighting being preferable. Due to the range of entertainment offered at our resorts, you should ideally have experience with different genres of entertainment, but this isn’t essential. What’s more important to us is your ability to think on your feet and have a solution‑minded approach to your work.

You should be comfortable working at height and have strong knowledge of intelligent lighting fixtures, rigging and suspension. With this in mind, it is also very important that you have strong health and safety awareness and are operating in the right way at all times.

As this is a technical role, the team will also want your creative input for shows, so you should be happy to share your creative ideas and work closely with the wider team to bring those to life.

As with all roles at Butlin's, no day will ever be the same! You should love getting stuck in, working with a like‑minded team and making a difference to our guests.
