Overview

The London Borough of Havering is offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled Assistant Team Manager to join our Children Safeguarding service. This full-time, hybrid role is based in London Borough of Havering with the potential for extension beyond 3 months. The role supports our newly structured Safeguarding Teams and provides opportunities for growth and development, while making a tangible difference in children’s lives.

Responsibilities
  • Hold and manage a caseload of children and families requiring safeguarding intervention, ensuring all statutory duties and assessments are completed meticulously.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to social workers, including Assistant Practitioners, supporting them in complex casework and fostering professional development.
  • Develop and implement child protection and children in need plans, ensuring timely progress and regular reviews.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners to safeguard children and promote their well-being, ensuring a cohesive approach.
  • Mentor newly qualified social workers and less experienced staff, working with permanent consultant social workers and systemic practitioners.
  • Participate in team meetings and development days, contributing to continuous service improvement.
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date case records in line with statutory requirements and Havering Council policies.
  • Promote and embed a culture of reflective practice and systemic thinking within the team.
