We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Duty and Assessment team within Calderdale Children’s Social Care. Purpose of the Role

To deliver statutory social work services for children and families referred to Calderdale Children’s Social Care. The role involves undertaking timely assessments, safeguarding investigations, and interventions, ensuring children are protected and their welfare promoted.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and core assessments in line with the Children Act 1989/2004 and Calderdale Council procedures
  • Make informed decisions regarding the level of intervention, including early help, safeguarding, or statutory services
  • Conduct visits, interviews, and direct work with children to identify needs, risks, and protective factors
  • Prepare clear, evidence‑based assessments and reports to support decision‑making
  • Collaborate with multi‑agency teams to ensure comprehensive care and safeguarding plans
