Social Media Volunteer - Volunteer

We’re looking for a creative social media volunteer to grow our presence across platforms. Ideal candidates understand storytelling, design, and community—especially in neurodivergent and chronically ill spaces.

What are we looking for?
Skills & Competencies
  • Confidence using Canva (essential), and ideally comfortable with basic video editing tools.
  • Understanding X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn, and how to create engaging platform‑specific content.
  • Strategic person who creates themes for content and moulds content on same topic for all social media platforms to maximise gains and reduce time investment.
  • Strong written communication and visual storytelling skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with remote teams.
  • Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple small tasks.

Time Commitment

  • Attend occasional online team or WhatsApp meetings.
Key Responsibilities
  • Social Media Management
    • Plan, schedule, and publish engaging content across key platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube).
    • Create posts using tools such as Canva—incorporating branding, accessibility (alt text, captions), and inclusive language.
    • Respond to comments, direct messages, and community mentions in a supportive and timely manner.
    • Help maintain and update Linktree to ensure users can easily access our events, resources, and news.
    • Monitor engagement, trends, and platform updates, suggesting improvements to boost reach and impact.
  • Content Creation
    • Design creative, user‑friendly graphics, videos, and reels to support campaigns, events, and awareness days.
    • Collaborate with the team to develop new ideas for educational, inspirational, and advocacy‑focused content.
    • Repackage existing content (blog posts, testimonials, articles) for social media audiences.
    • Support video editing for YouTube or short‑form content, if possible.
  • Strategy & Campaign Support
    • Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns aligned with SEDSConnective’s calendar of events and advocacy work.
    • Contribute to developing a consistent voice, tone, and visual identity across platforms.
    • Work with the wider team to help promote fundraising initiatives, events, and training sessions.
