Business Unit: Social Housing – Refurbishment / Planned Works

Overview

Equans is recruiting a Site Manager to support multiple occupied refurbishment schemes on behalf of a leading Social Housing Association. This is a multi-site role covering locations in Colchester, Bedford, Reading, Slough, Bournemouth and Dartford. The role involves regular travel between sites. To support this, a company vehicle is provided, and all travel expenses and hotel stays are fully covered. This is a permanent opportunity offering a competitive salary, vehicle, hotel allowance and full expenses package.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day delivery of occupied refurbishment and planned works across multiple live housing sites
  • Supervise subcontractors and trade teams, ensuring safe, high-quality delivery
  • Work closely with an experienced Resident Liaison Officer (RLO) to support resident communication and minimise disruption
  • Attend tenant and resident housing meetings as the on-site lead
  • Take ownership of all on-site logistics, including welfare setup, access, deliveries, storage, housekeeping and H&S compliance
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, who manages off-site logistics, programme, procurement and commercial coordination
  • Monitor progress, identify risks or delays, and implement corrective actions
  • Produce and maintain accurate site documentation such as RAMS, permits, induction records and H&S files
  • Carry out regular inspections, quality checks and safety auditsBuild strong working relationships with residents, client teams and internal stakeholders
  • Support the RLO team with managing resident feedback and complaints
  • Ensure all works comply with SHEQ standards, permits, safeguarding and public protection measures

About You
  • Experienced Site Manager with a strong background in occupied refurbishment within social housing
  • Flexible and willing to travel frequently between multiple sites
  • Capable of managing several projects and workstreams simultaneously
  • Confident managing subcontractors and ensuring high standards of quality and safety
  • Strong communicator, able to lead resident meetings and work closely with RLOs
  • Highly organised with good planning and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledgeable in SHEQ processes, RAMS, permits and public protection requirements
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Holds SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid, and a full UK driving licence
