Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled Site Agent with a robust background in managing projects for Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN). This role is situated in a busy and fast‑paced project and maintenance environment where you will oversee a variety of multi‑disciplinary civil engineering/electrical projects.

The wider regional team is also responsible for delivering infrastructure projects and maintenance works for a diverse portfolio of clients including Local Authorities, Network Rail, and Environmental Agencies.

Role

As the Site Agent, you will be responsible for the daily management and successful delivery of engineering projects on behalf of Scottish Power & Energy Networks, ensuring that they are executed on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that the contract is executed in accordance with:
    • All applicable legislation
    • Terms and Conditions of the Contract
    • Contract Health and Safety Plan
    • Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets
    • Contract Quality / Environmental Plan
  • Managing projects to ensure they are delivered within programme and budget constraints.
  • Liaising with site staff and the managing surveyor to keep tender allowances within limits.
  • Continuously monitoring contract progress to ensure objectives are met.
  • Identifying and effectively managing changes to the contract in coordination with the site team.
  • Providing formal reports on contract progress to the Contracts Manager.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering
Experience
  • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC),
  • Appointed Persons,
  • IOSH,
  • Service Detection,
  • SPEN/SSE/DRAX Comp persons preferable.
  • Previous experience working in a substation environment and carrying the necessary competencies in line with safety rules 5th edition.
  • Ability to interpret contract drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • Proficient record‑keeping skills for progress and quality control.
  • Experience at the Site Agent level in civil engineering contracting, particularly in energy and power‑related infrastructure projects and maintenance.
