Overview

We are now recruiting for an experienced Site Agent in our Southern Region to initially work on a large critical infrastructure scheme near Eastbourne in East Sussex. The programme is about 18 months long and the project commences in early 2026. The scheme involves highways and bridge construction works.

Main Duties
  • Management of site staff, operatives and sub-contractors.
  • Provide method statements, hazard risk assessments and project management plans.
  • Understand tender allowances and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets.
  • Preparing and monitoring programmes of work.
  • Assessment and engagement of sub-contractors.
  • Manage design co‑ordination and control project risks.
  • Manage contracts to ensure timely and profitable completion of contracts.
  • Inform, consult, and involve local groups as necessary.
  • Foster good relations and reputation with clients.
  • Understand and administer contract change.
  • Supervise, mentor and assist in the career development of junior staff.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a Site Agent or Senior Site Agent.
  • Relevant industry qualification (HND / HNC / BEng) or equivalent.
  • Up‑to‑date SMSTS qualification, and appropriate CSCS card.
  • First Aid at work qualification desirable.
  • Experience of managing civil engineering projects with a main contractor along with previous experience on Highways, Earthworks and Structures.
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK and have a full UK driving licence.
Must haves
  • Be able to maintain and monitor works against a programme and budget.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Able to run multiple complex and non-complex sites.
  • Maintain comprehensive records.
  • Compliance with current legislation requirements, including production and implementation of RAMs and other associated safety/project documentation.
  • The ability to forecast cost and programme.
