A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking a Shift Engineer to join its Respiratory Supply Chain Engineering team. This role involves managing a team of Engineering Technicians, driving process performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards in a complex GMP environment. The Engineering function at the GSK Ware Manufacturing and Supply site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation and controls systems for all production operations to ensure production targets are achieved. The Respiratory Supply Chain (RSC) engineering team work (on shift) to provide engineering expertise to support production activities.
We are looking to recruit a Shift Engineer to join the RSC Engineering team to manage a shift of Engineering Technicians (up to 6 Direct Reports). Reporting into an Engineering Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
Other elements of the role include supporting the wider operations of GSK's manufacturing sites, and fully understanding all the regulatory and statutory requirements (Safety and Quality/GMP) that govern manufacturing business processes.
Please note that RSC shift engineers operate on shift. We have 2 different shift patterns in the Respiratory Supply Chain: 24/7 shift and 24/5 shift both involve 12-hour shifts which run from circa 7:00 to 19:00 (Days) and 19:00 to 7:00 (Nights). These shift patterns include night work and may include weekend working.
This role would suit a motivated person who has strong experience of working in a complex GMP environment. You will be a qualified engineer, with strong people skills. A proven ability to drive performance is a must. It is imperative in this role that you demonstrate an ability to drive common-thinking, with a focus on providing solutions. You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, and have proven experience dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. Ideally you will have worked in a highly-regulated industry.
We are co-located with our R&D colleagues and recently opened a new, state-of-the-art oral solid dose facility at Ware. At this location our scientists, technicians and engineers (from R&D and Global Supply Chain GSC) work collaboratively together (using the latest technologies) to rapidly knowledge transfer and deliver GSK's most innovative, medicines faster and more efficiently. On site we produce over 60 million respiratory inhalers each year with growing demand in future years. The site also processes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) for use both on site and other manufacturing sites in our network.
