Come grow with us!**Job Description**A Sewing Machine Operative is responsible for the manufacture of all sewing processes within the manufacturing area to the correct standard work procedures. While ensuring safety procedures are adhered to.**Equipment**Flat machine (single & twin needle)Cylinder arm ringing machine (single & twin needle)Superlocking/overlocking machinesPost machinesFelt band machine**Outline of operations**Manufacture of all aspects of sewing to the correct proceduresEnsuring machines are maintainedRecord count per hour and the correct count sheet and takt time set by team leaderEnsure all documentation is completed with the correct dataUnderstanding and compliance with Company Quality procedures manufacturing to the correct specification using WIPPS, QMS, Customer Drawings and item codes.Reporting all Quality issues immediately and escalating any resolved issues by using the quality stop work procedureEnsuring housekeeping is maintained to the correct levels with end of shift clean downsCarrying out pre shift task risk assessments Reporting and loading their hours on to Workday by the end of the weekAdherence to all company Safety procedures ensuring safe working for everyone on siteFollowing the safety stop work processParticipate in team briefingsAdherence to the Code of ConductTraining programs on Workday**Job Flexibility**Where necessary you may be called upon to work in other departmentsInspection and folding finish goodsParticipate in Kaizen activitiesCover for holidays in other production areas if trained**Health and Safety**Understanding and compliance with Company Health & Safety PolicyUnderstanding and compliance with Stop Work, PTRA’s, Gemba and Safety Observations.Participate in toolbox talks, safety alerts and learning from incidents while adhering to all aspects of safe working proceduresPersonal protective equipment will be provided and worn correctlyAt Alkegen, we strive every day to help people – ALL PEOPLE – breathe easier, live greener and go further than ever before.
