A local government authority is seeking a highly motivated Senior Surveyor to join its Estates Team. The successful candidate will support Principal Surveyors in delivering comprehensive property services, conducting inspections and valuations, and managing the land and property portfolio. Salary: £47,181 - £50,269 + 10% market rate supplement until 31/3/2027, plus laptop
Working Arrangements: Monday to Friday including agile working
Hours per week: 37

Senior Surveyor – Estates
Barnsley Council is seeking highly motivated individuals who possess good technical and communication skills to join our team of experienced surveyors.
You will be responsible for supporting the Principal Surveyors to ensure the provision of an integrated and comprehensive strategic property service to the Council. This will involve conducting inspections, valuations, measurement, negotiations and agreeing terms on tenancies as well as investigating queries and complaints and bringing these to a satisfactory conclusion.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to provide structured professional advice related to the Council’s priorities to encourage growth, as well as experience of working with development partners to de‑risk sites and having a good grasp of Landlord and Tenant matters.
You will also support the management of the Council’s land and property portfolio, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations. Additionally, you will contribute to the Council’s Asset Management Plan and support the delivery of the Medium‑Term Financial Plan targets.
