About The Role

Are you a seasoned Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to take on a career-defining challenge in one of the UK’s most breathtaking locations? Join Balfour Beatty’s Power T&D team on the Isle of Skye, where we’re delivering the Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project—a nationally significant infrastructure upgrade that will connect the Western Isles to mainland Scotland and support the UK’s clean energy transition.

Working Model: Hybrid; combining home, office, and site-based work depending on project needs.

Flexibility: We welcome both full-time and part-time applications. We understand that the best people aren’t always available full-time and are happy to explore flexible working arrangements.

Role Purpose

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial management of complex civil engineering works, ensuring value for money and compliance with NEC contracts. You’ll also support the development of junior staff and contribute to the long‑term success of the project and team.

What you’ll be doing
  • Prepare activity and resource schedules; analyse tender documents.
  • Negotiate with subcontractors and third parties.
  • Manage commercial documentation (CEN, EWN, GC) under NEC contracts.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and maintain commercial registers.
  • Develop procurement strategies and internal financial reports.
  • Mentor junior commercial staff and support recruitment efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting standards and governance.
Who we’re looking for
  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
  • Chartered or working towards RICS, ICES, or CIOB membership.
  • Strong NEC contract administration experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams.

  • Strong customer and business awareness.
  • Ability to identify risks and opportunities.
