Job Description Summary

This position works as a member of the Global Legal Privacy team to deliver legal advice on data protection and privacy laws throughout the EMEA region, with special emphasis on financial privacy law. The role partners closely with the European legal team on bank secrecy issues affecting PayPal Europe and collaborates with PayPal’s Data Protection Officer and Global Privacy Program Office.

Responsibilities
  • Lead complex projects of diverse scope, driving legal initiatives that support business growth and innovation.
  • Participate in complex problem resolution, providing expert legal advice on high‑stakes issues and disputes.
  • Provide specialized legal advice in high‑demand areas such as compliance, data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including implementation of new legal technologies and automation tools and developing robust compliance programs.
  • Manage legal risks, develop comprehensive risk‑management frameworks and strategies to address emerging legal challenges.
  • Represent PayPal in litigation and other legal proceedings, leading case strategies, collaborating with external counsel, and ensuring effective representation.
  • Identify issues and recommend best practices, leveraging industry knowledge and legal expertise to guide decision‑making.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience in legal and privacy matters.
  • Juris Doctorate or an equivalent degree, or a combination of education and experience that meets the required level.
