Senior Fraud Risk Strategy Analyst at The Very Group

About us
We are The Very Group and we're here to help families get more out of life. We combine amazing brands and products with flexible payment options on Very.co.uk to help customers say yes to the things they love. We are passionate about helping our people grow, with a sense of purpose, belonging and wellbeing.

About the team
Protecting our customers and business from fraud is at the heart of what we do. You’ll join our Fraud Risk Analytics team of 5 within the Credit Risk department (c.60 FTE) in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your ideas can make a real impact. We design and deliver fraud prevention strategies across the full customer journey—from new credit applications to account takeovers and emerging trends—using data, insight and innovation to keep customers safe and minimise loss. You’ll receive support from a friendly team and have the opportunity to grow your skills in a fast-moving business that values your input.

About the Role
As a Senior Fraud Risk Strategy Analyst, you’ll use data to spot fraud risks and develop smart, effective solutions to stop them.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse fraud trends and behaviours using large datasets to inform strategy.
  • Design, test, and implement fraud rules and controls to protect customers and the business.
  • Monitor the performance of fraud strategies, spotting opportunities for improvement.
  • Deliver clear, compelling insights and recommendations to stakeholders across the business.
  • Collaborate with the operational fraud prevention team (Bolton and Speke) and wider Credit Risk colleagues.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, balancing day-to-day analysis with longer-term strategic improvements.

You’ll have the freedom to make critical decisions, see their impact quickly, and contribute directly to shaping how we protect our customers and brands.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious, analytical, and ready to challenge the status quo. You’ll have:

  • A degree in a numerate subject (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or similar).
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL, SAS, Python or equivalent to interrogate large datasets.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with fraud strategy, credit risk, or related analytics (experience with FICO Blaze Advisor or other decision engines is a plus).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to turn analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to present to senior stakeholders and influence decisions.
  • A collaborative, adaptable approach and ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment with multiple moving parts.

If you’re passionate about analytics and using data to tackle real-world problems, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits

  • Flexible, hybrid working model
  • Inclusive culture and environment
  • £1000 flexible benefits allowance
  • 30 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Udemy learning access
  • Bonus potential (performance and business-related)
  • Up to 25% discount on Very.co.uk
  • Matched pension up to 6%
  • More benefits on our career site
