Role Description

ISWUK Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Designer to join its growing design demands. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Ashford, offering flexibility between office and home working.

The Senior Designer will take full ownership of architectural metal and glass design packages, producing highly detailed, accurate technical drawings while ensuring design intent is maintained from concept through to manufacture and site installation.

You will play a key role in collaborating with clients and internal teams, identifying and managing design risks, and delivering practical, compliant, and innovative solutions across a wide range of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of design development and coordination for architectural metal and glass systems, including:
• Balustrades and guarding
• Balconies (including prefabricated systems)
• Staircases and access structures
• External flooring and decking solutions
• Bespoke architectural metalwork
• Produce detailed technical, construction, and fabrication drawings
• Collaborate with clients during pre-construction and live project stages to align design objectives
• Coordinate closely with the project, fabrication, and installation teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure design integrity is maintained through to site installation
• Identify, evaluate, and manage design and installation risks, proposing innovative and buildable solutions
• Ensure compliance with:
• UK Building Regulations
• Fire safety and remediation requirements
• Relevant British Standards and industry guidance
• Support technical submissions, RFIs, and design reviews
• Attend design meetings, technical workshops, and site visits as required
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and processes

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior Designer within architectural metalwork, glass, or façade-related design
• Proficient in 2D & 3D design software
• Strong understanding of safety standards, compliance, and fire remediation practices
• Demonstrable knowledge of:
• Balustrades, balconies, staircases, and external flooring systems
• Installation processes, sequencing, and tolerances
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders
• Ability to manage complex design challenges and deliver practical, compliant, and creative solutions
• Experience maintaining design integrity across all project phases
• Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Design, or a related field preferred
