Job Summary

A fantastic opportunity arises for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner within the Taw Core Adult Mental Health Team at West Pilton Health & Wellbeing Clinic, Barnstaple. As part of Devon Partnership NHS Trust, the team provides mental health treatments and interventions to adults in rural and coastal demographics. Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver high quality comprehensive mental health services, managing a defined caseload focused on assessment and treatment for people with complex mental health difficulties and their carers.
  • Adopt a recovery coordination approach, designing and coordinating personalised treatment packages evaluated in line with payment by results.
  • Provide statutory adult social care, care management functions (assessment, care planning, reviewing) and liaise with statutory and non‑statutory agencies.
  • Contribute to clinical leadership, supervise other team members, and participate in team and service development and evaluation.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Professional mental health qualification (e.g. RMN, Social Work Degree, BSc/Diploma in OT, SROT, Chartered Clinical Psychologist) on the appropriate professional body register and hold current UK registration with no restrictions (NMC / HCPC / SWE).
  • Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
  • Mentoring students in line with professional requirements.
  • Recognised relevant qualification in pharmacy or nursing.
Desirable
  • Post‑graduate qualification relevant to specialism.
  • Clinical supervision qualification.
  • Training to level 3 in safeguarding children and young people.
  • Evidence of leadership/management training within a core service.
Experience
Essential
  • Extensive postgraduate registration experience at band 5 in mental health care, including at least two inpatient and one community setting.
  • Experience acting as nurse in charge and managing a busy caseload within a community setting without supervision.
  • Experience of clinically supervising and mentoring students.
  • Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
Desirable
  • Participation in user involvement in services.
  • Experience deputising for more senior staff.
