NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

Shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday: 0800-1600 / 0900-1700.

The Procurement Team welcomes candidates to join NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is the largest Health Board in Scotland and has a trade spend with third party suppliers of over £907m. The Procurement Department provides a comprehensive procurement and logistics service for all Health Board functions, including strategic sourcing and advice to improve effectiveness and value for money on all expenditure for goods, services and works.

>Due to a recent expansion and skill mix review, we have 3 x Senior Commodity Officer posts vacant within our Capital Equipment and Equipping team who cover medical equipment, imaging equipment and Estates assets plus all associated maintenance contracts. The Senior Commodity Officer is responsible for ensuring maximum efficiency of resources, achievement of value for money and risk and liability management through negotiation and other procurement skills and techniques, and will lead on all aspects of multi-million pound cross-directorate contracts covered by their team’s portfolio including the analysis, selection, award and management of those contracts.

We are seeking candidates who are educated to degree level or equivalent and hold a Professional/Postgraduate qualification in Procurement and Supply e.g. CIPS Professional Diploma (Level 4) or equivalent experience, who have knowledge of contract law and public procurement legislation and have excellent team management, communication and inter-personal skills.
