Qualifications

Framatome Ltd is supporting Framatome SAS and the I&C BU for the Safety I&C as part of the localisation program. This will include testing the TXS and Unicorn equipments. The job will include a period of 5 months in Germany for practice and learning on the job.

You’ll be embedded within our commissioning team on Hinkley Point C. You will work alongside software and hardware experts to deliver I&C systems.

You will be responsible of ensuring the Control Command Nuclear Safety related is qualified before fuelling the HPC reactors. It will require a high level of professionalism and handling of the human factors. Your future team will ensure high-performance, safe, and compliant commissioning across the reactor system and the auxiliaries systems information used in the safety guardelines.

Responsibilities
  • Commissioning and testing Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems across HPC plant units as part of the OEM’s team.
  • Conducting root cause analysis and troubleshooting of automation and control faults.
  • Leading diagnostic testing on TXS, UNICORN.
  • Overseeing calibration and verification of field instrumentation linked to the cabinets.
  • Supporting integration and testing within the plant control systems.
  • Coordinating with system engineering, operations, maintenance.
  • Ensuring all testing activities are aligned with nuclear safety standards and plant procedures.
  • Being an example in procedure use and adherence avoiding “blind PU&A”.
  • Having a high level of human performance and quality in delivering the tasks.
  • Managing documentation for commissioning progress, non-conformances, and system handover.
  • Ensuring deep first line analysis before raising concerns and work requests.
  • Taking part of problem resolution groups.
  • Flexibility will be asked on the location as being part of I&C taskforces in Europe.
  • This job is not flexible and requires a daily presence on site, therefore you are eligible for a site allowance.

Profile

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Degree qualified Engineer (in an appropriate scientific or engineering discipline)
  • First successful experience in Nuclear Engineering (3 to 8 years’ experience)
  • Knowledge of EPR design, UK context is a plus
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary teams on large projects
  • Knowledge of System Engineering principles
  • In depth knowledge about the various TXS systems: Protection system (PS)
  • Reactor Control, Surveillance and Limitation System (RCSL)
  • Basic knowledge of the hardware and software products of TXS technology.
  • Experience in Conventional HMI (SICS) system and interfaces with different I&C systems
  • Overview of the hardware backup system (For ex. HBS, Unicorn)

  • Able to take a strategic view with good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels
  • Motivated and disciplined with an ability to work to deadlines and prioritise work across multiple workstreams
  • Able to write and review technical documents which present complex arguments clearly
  • Able to take a proactive approach to management and resolution of technical topics
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, able to liaise between multiple stakeholders and maintain a clear overview for specific topics
