Overview

An opportunity for a full‑time Respiratory Physiologist in the Respiratory Investigations Department at Kettering General Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group.

Responsibilities
  • Perform full PFTs – spirometry, gas transfer and body plethysmography.
  • Conduct spirometry with FeNO and bronchodilator response.
  • Set‑up, distribute and upload data from sleep diagnostic devices (WatchPAT).
  • Obtain relevant patient history and consider contraindications for testing.
  • Make decisions regarding patient suitability for testing, when to conduct limited testing and when to terminate testing.
  • Ensure good quality, repeatable results through effective communication with patients.
  • Interpret results accurately and produce well‑written reports, following national guidelines and local SOPs.
  • Maintain inventory and manage consumables.
  • Liaise with the Chief Respiratory Physiologist where required.
  • Support continuous development of Respiratory Services at Kettering, Northampton and Corby CDC.
  • Advise other Healthcare Professionals.
  • Support and train junior staff members.
  • Participate in audit and research programmes.
  • Take personal responsibility for compliance with Trust and Departmental infection control policies.
