Overview
Resource Manager – Engineering from Northern Powergrid will manage and develop a multi-skilled team of engineering colleagues to deliver the region’s programmes of operational work (planned and unplanned), optimising colleague utilisation, maximising productivity and anticipating future skills demand.
Base pay range: £68,286 - £80,335 (Tech ETL pp 19-24). We offer a competitive package and benefits to shortlisted candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Embedding a safety culture aligned with positive, proactive and solution driven engagement.
- Driving continuous improvement in regional productivity and optimising team utilisation through effective allocation of resources to work programmes and reactive activity (including major incidents).
- Ensuring timely allocation of appropriately skilled engineering resources to enable delivery of all agreed programmes of work, achieving operational and customer service targets.
- Setting and upholding performance expectations and standards of behaviour; recognising high performance and actively managing under-performance.
- Coaching and developing engineers to maximise capability in line with the competency framework and anticipated skills demand of current and emerging work programmes.
- Anticipating and maintaining an adequate pipeline of appropriately skilled engineers; driving career progression including participants in the workforce renewal programme.
- Creating and empowering a safety culture; ensuring fully resourced and prioritised programmes of work with optimal utilisation of engineers.
- Delivering productivity and safety targets; maintaining a pipeline of engineers upskilled to meet current and future work programme demands.
- Maintaining clear evidence of performance reviews and development plans, using feedback from Programme Managers; calibrating and implementing the technical competency framework for engineering disciplines.
- Maintaining a talent profile of all resources with high growth potential actively managed; collaborating within immediate team and peer groups; coaching and mentoring to maximise performance.
- Leading, motivating and inspiring others; exercising sound judgement and effective decision making; resilience in the face of challenges; excellent written and spoken communication; strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Management of programmes/projects and colleagues
- Network operations on the LV and HV system
- SAP authorisation on overhead and/or ground mounted systems
