Our colleagues build close bonds with the people they care for, helping to create enduring, positive relationships that build confidence and self-esteem.
In every Choice Care home there’s a strong emphasis on living life to the full and having fun, with purposeful daily activities based on individual preferences and capabilities. Alongside this there are regular social events, projects, outings and holiday breaks which everyone can get involved in and express themselves through.
Opened in 2016, Portchester Lodge, in Gosport, provides support for 11 men and women, aged from their twenties to early sixties, with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders and mental health conditions, including schizophrenia and personality disorder. Portchester Lodge has its own Activity Coordinator to help tailor individual and group activity schedules. The residents make good use of the large garden and there is a separate building in the grounds for arts and crafts, music and skills training. There is also a quiet lounge so people can choose to take time away from the action. An additional outbuilding houses four one‑bedroom annexes suitable for individuals who benefit from living separately but enjoy activities and socialising with the other residents from time to time. Staff support the residents 24-hours a day, with assistance from our in house Positive Behaviour Support Team.
