About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Project Manager to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is a 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Edinburgh.

Our client is seeking a Project Manager to support programme‑level planning and critical path management activities within a multi‑year migration programme. The role will involve creating and maintaining a programme‑level plan, establishing a planning framework for consistency across workstreams, and ensuring timely delivery of key milestones.

Responsibilities
  • Work with workstream PMs to create and maintain a programme‑level plan with a clearly defined critical path.
  • Develop a plan management framework for adoption across workstreams to enable consistent roll‑up into the programme plan.
  • Support PMs in developing detailed project plans using industry‑standard tools (e.g., MS Project or equivalent).
  • Establish and maintain the critical path, identifying and managing task dependencies to prevent delays.
  • Perform critical path analysis and allocate resources effectively.
  • Monitor dependencies across workstreams and third parties, implementing mitigation strategies for risks.
  • Assign clear ownership for tasks and track progress to maintain momentum.
  • Resolve conflicts between teams or stakeholders promptly and elevate issues when necessary.
  • Follow structured change control processes for scope, schedule, and budget changes.
  • Provide regular status reports, facilitate meetings, and maintain accurate documentation for audit and compliance.
About You
  • Proficiency in planning tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar.
  • Experience in creating and rolling out programme planning frameworks.
  • Strong ability to identify and manage critical tasks and dependencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills for conflict resolution.
  • Experience with formal change control processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive tasks to completion with ownership and accountability.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in programme or project management within large‑scale programmes.
