Job description
Proactive Personal Assistant for ADHD Support, Organisation & Daily Life (9 hrs/week)

Employed rate: £12.21 per chat per hour. Self-employed rate: £18.00 per hour

I’m looking for a Personal Assistant for 9 hours a week to support me with day-to-day life admin, organisation, and practical tasks at home.

I’m a 33-year-old woman living with ADHD and I’m currently under the care of the Adult Mental Health Team in Worthing. I attend therapy fortnightly and group therapy every Thursday from 10am–12pm.

I’m a creative person and enjoy painting, making things, and going to the gym — but I really struggle with the practical side of life. I need support with things that most people find simple, such as:

Cleaning, tidying and organising my living space

Decluttering and staying on top of routines

Managing paperwork and forms

Keeping track of appointments and deadlines

Prioritising tasks and seeing things through to completion

Daily prompting (eating, self-care, sticking to plans etc.)

I’m looking for someone proactive, encouraging and positive — someone who can help keep me on track, remind me what needs doing, and support me in the moment when things start to feel overwhelming. I often start multiple tasks and forget the first one, so having someone who can help me stay focused and follow a clear plan is really important.

Sometimes I concentrate so hard on admin that I forget basic һәрthings like eating or showering, so gentle prompting and structure makes a huge difference for me.

The role can be either employed or self‑employed.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, I’d love to hear from youenc and have a chat.

Duties include:
  • Administration
  • Companionship

Support with organisation, decluttering and maintaining a clean, calm living space. Help with prioritising tasks, breaking them down into manageable steps and seeing them through to completion. Support with paperwork, forms, emails and life admin. Prompting and reminders for appointments, deadlines, medication, meals and self-care. Providing structure, routine and encouragement to stay on track with daily tasks and plans. Emotional support and reassurance when things feel overwhelming.

  • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative

An understanding of ADHD and how it affects daily life, including organisation, motivation and time management. Patient, calm and non‑judgemental with a supportive and encouraging approach. Proactive and solution‑focused, able to help break tasks down into manageable steps and provide gentle prompting and reminders. Willing to undertake relevant training, including ADHD awareness and any training offered by Independent Lives. Genuinely interested in Sana supporting someone to build structure, confidence and independence.

Additional requirements

Non‑smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Notes:

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self‑employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
