Overview

Principal/Senior or Experienced HV Plant Design Engineer (Substation Design) at Stantec. The Opportunity: The transmission and distribution sector is rapidly transforming against a backdrop of growing demand, regulatory changes, ambitious carbon reduction targets and new innovations in technology. If you are passionate about making a difference, join our industry leading Energy team in leading the change. We are seeking a Principal/Senior HV Plant Engineer to work on electrical substation design projects as part of our HV team, supporting FEED design and detailed design for refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects. This role involves working with multiple disciplines on projects across the country, including HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, and refurbishment works. You will contribute to projects for key T&D clients in the UK and help deliver innovative and sustainable solutions within our energy transition initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the HV team on electrical substation design projects, supporting/leading FEED design and detailed design for refurbishment, extensions, and new-builds.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and coordinate with clients across the UK.
  • Contribute to a wide variety of projects (HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, building design, protection systems, LVAC) and ensure design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and components.
  • Engage with the engineering community, share knowledge, promote ideas, and apply industry best practices to drive client success.
  • Support coaching and development within the wider energy team and contribute to the UK energy transition goals.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer with design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and components. Understanding of P&C aspects is preferable.
  • Pro-active with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry. Ability to coach and work within the energy team, and to engage with clients and colleagues to drive success.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related technical field. Willingness to learn and develop in a growing energy sector.
