Overview

Principal/Senior or Experienced HV Plant Design Engineer (Substation Design) - Stantec

The transmission and distribution sector is transforming with growing demand, regulatory changes, carbon reduction targets and new innovations. This role offers an opportunity to join our Energy team to lead and deliver HV substation design projects and contribute to the UK energy transition.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the HV team for electrical substation design projects, supporting/leading FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-builds.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and clients across the UK, with potential involvement in HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, OHL, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, and related schemes.
• Coordinate and contribute to design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and associated components, with understanding of P&C aspects where applicable.
• Coach and work within the wider energy team; engage with the engineering community to drive innovative solutions and industry best practices.
• Participate in a growing, collaborative team and contribute to delivering sustainable solutions for industry challenges, supporting Stantec’s growth and energy transition goals.

About You / Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field; experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer.
• Experience in design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and related components; understanding of protection and control (P&C) aspects preferable.
• Pro-active with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry; ability to coach and work within a team; willingness to learn and adapt.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to share knowledge and contribute to a positive team culture.
