An opportunity has arisen for an assistant to join our Pharmacy Stores and Distribution team who are responsible for the safe and effective receipt, supply and distribution of medicines to various wards and departments within the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide efficient, accurate and high-quality stock management service from Pharmacy Stores through the receipt, storage, and distribution of medicines.
  • To manage stock / supply of pharmaceutical products for wards and clinics, through the routine top up service and the provision of ad hoc request service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

KEY RESULT AREAS

These are the key areas that support the purpose of the job

1. To provide Pharmacy Stores core service, through the receipt, storage, and distribution of medicines.

2. To order, pick, deliver, and put away stock supplies of pharmaceutical products (including bulk fluids and feeds), for departments, wards and clinics through the top up service

3. To participate in stock management and maintenance of medicines stored within ward automation systems. To undertake ‘housekeeping’ of ward stock to reduce incidence of damage or product miss‑selection.

4. To ensure that data entry on the ward automation system is accurate and timely

5. To participate and support the use of Pharmacy automation systems, to assist in the control of the large remit of stock management in the Pharmacy Department and ensuring that data entry on the pharmacy computer system is accurate and timely.

6. To process orders for medicines under the terms of the Wholesale Dealers License in accordance with relevant SOP’s and adhering to Good Distribution Practice.

7. To carry out general stock management duties in all areas of pharmacy, including receipt of goods, transfers, stock counts, stock rotation and investigation of stock discrepancies when necessary.

8. To carry out general stock management duties on all wards and clinics, including housekeeping, stock counts, stock rotation expiry date checks and investigation of stock discrepancies when necessary.

9. To undertake a wide range of duties within the Pharmacy Department, and to undertake relevant training as required.

10. To participate in weekend, on‑call and Bank holiday working in accordance with agreed rotas.
