Job description

Jameel is a bright, fun-loving 15‑year‑old with autism and learning disabilities. He communicates using single words and short sentences and responds best to people who are calm, patient, and understanding.

Jameel enjoys going out and about, especially visiting the park, going on the swings, and spending time outdoors. He sometimes finds loud shouting or crying distressing, so he benefits from a PA who can calmly support him and help create a reassuring environment.

Spending time out in the community helps him to cope, stay active, and enjoy positive experiences. Outings also support his independence and preparation for adulthood.

About the Role

We are looking for a kind, reliable, and patient Personal Assistant to support Jameel on weekends and during school holidays. Your role will include:

  • Accompanying Jameel on trips to the park or other community activities
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and social skills
  • Supporting travel by bus or walking when appropriate
  • Communicating clearly and calmly, and responding to Jameel’s needs with empathy
  • Providing reassurance and structure to help him enjoy outings safely
About You

You’ll be:

  • Calm, patient, and caring
  • Reliable and consistent
  • Able to communicate clearly and adapt to Jameel’s preferred ways of interacting
  • Comfortable supporting a young person with autism and learning disabilities
  • Sensitive to Jameel’s experiences and the family’s needs

Experience of supporting autistic young people is desirable, but a genuine understanding and willingness to learn are just as important.

This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed.

At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
