Peripatetic Music Teacher (Percussion)

Location: Surbiton High School

Start Date: Week commencing 23 February 2026

Salary: £53.49 per hour (including holiday pay)

Contract: Permanent (variable hours contract), Part-time (approx. 5 hours per week)

Days: Tuesday or Friday

Are you an inspiring percussion specialist with a passion for teaching? Surbiton High School is seeking a talented Peripatetic Music Teacher (Percussion) to join our vibrant and ambitious Music Department.

With over 450 individual lessons delivered weekly and a thriving programme of ensembles and concerts at prestigious venues such as Cadogan Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, our department is a hub of musical excellence. We pride ourselves on strong academic outcomes and a culture that nurtures creativity and performance across all age groups.

What you’ll do:

Deliver high-quality individual percussion lessons to pupils at the Senior School and Boys’ Prep School.

Plan engaging lessons that challenge and inspire students.

Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to pupils and parents.

Contribute to the wider musical life of the school through ensembles, concerts, and events.

What we’re looking for:

A music degree or diploma with a specialism in percussion.

Excellent performance and communication skills.

Proven experience teaching percussion across primary and secondary settings.

A warm, personable approach and the ability to inspire pupils of all ages.
