As a result of our expansion plans, and our continued ongoing success we are seeking a dynamic Systems Administrator to be based at our Head Office in Plymouth.

About the Role

Are you a skilled Linux Systems Administrator with a passion for secure, high-performance infrastructure? We're looking for a proactive and knowledgeable individual to join our IT team. In this role, you'll manage and optimise our Linux-based systems (primarily Red Hat / CentOS), support Windows environments, and ensure compliance with security standards like PCI DSS. You'll also work across hybrid cloud environments, especially AWS, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain a stable and scalable infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers in physical and virtual environments
  • Provide support for Windows workstations as needed
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security
  • Troubleshoot networking issues across the TCP/IP stack
  • Manage user accounts,, and access controls
  • Apply security patches and updates in line with compliance standards
  • Support cloud infrastructure, storage, and networking (AWS)
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures
  • Maintain documentation, change logs, and asset inventories
  • Ensure PCI DSS compliance and participate in incident response
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience
  • 35 years of Linux systems administration (Red Hat / CentOS)
  • Experience with Windows environments
  • Strong networking knowledge (CCNA level or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC)
  • Understanding of PCI DSS and secure system practices
  • Proficiency in shell scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
  • RHCSA or higher certification
  • CCNA certification or equivalent experience
  • Experience with monitoring tools and configuration management
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM)
  • Exposure to security hardening and vulnerability management
