Job summary

Job description

On behalf of our client, NRL Recruitment are looking for an Instrument Technician for work off shore.

Duration: From 17th December for 21 days

Location: Off Shore ( leaving from Aberdeen )

Certification (Copies required) :

  • MIST
  • BOSIET
  • OEUK Medical
  • Trade Certification (e.g. Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 etc.)
  • COMPEX 01-04
  • TSBT02
Role Purpose

The Instrument Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, sensors, control valves, and analyzers.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on instrumentation systems.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out troubleshooting on control systems, including PLCs and DCS.
  • Ensure compliance with our clients safety standards and industry regulations during all activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and calibration certificates.
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities for new projects or equipment upgrades.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (electrical, mechanical) to resolve multi-disciplinary issues.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Instrumentation, Control Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in instrumentation maintenance within oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of process control systems and instrumentation principles.
    • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical manuals.
    • Familiarity with hazardous area equipment and ATEX standards.
  • Certifications: CompEx or equivalent certification for hazardous areas preferred.
