Overview

Nightshift Manager – Bakery Operations. We are looking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Nightshift Manager to lead our overnight baking, confectionery, and despatch operations, in the production and despatch of high quality baked goods. This role manages staff to ensure production runs safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while supporting and developing our nightshift team and fostering strong teamwork and collaboration with dayshift operations.

Full time hours - 40 hours/week, 20:00 – 06:30, Sunday - Wednesday

Pay - £40,000 to £45,000

Key Responsibilities

Quality

  • Oversee bakery production ensuring consistent, timely, and high-quality output
  • Ensure adherence to recipes, processes, and product standards
  • Verify recipe and process compliance to maintain product consistency
  • Analyse production data to reduce waste and improve efficiency

People Management & Development

  • Lead, engage, and motivate supervisors and bakery staff
  • Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with company values
  • Work with HR and operational leaders to embed accountability and consistency
  • Act as a role model and custodian of Stephens’ values

Training

  • Create and deliver training and development plans across the nightshift function in collaboration with the Training and Process Manager
  • Ensure staff versatility and flexibility through effective skills development
  • Keep training materials updated and aligned with legislative requirements
  • Support digital training tools and compliance tracking systems
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff training records

Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to food safety, health & safety, and hygiene standards
  • Maintain documentation related to safety, process control, and GMP standards
  • Accurately utilise our systems to record key data, monitor KPIs, and maintain compliance with internal and regulatory standards
  • Promote an “audit ready” culture across the team
  • Keep policies and procedures aligned with legislation
  • Ensure smooth handovers with dayshift managers, communicating updates and resolutions effectively

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in managing bakery operations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills from working in a fast-paced, overnight environment
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and health & safety legislation
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, coaching, and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure quality and consistency
  • A passion for baking
  • Good computer and IT skills to effectively perform daily tasks and support business operations
  • Ideally previous experience of working during overnight hours
Hours

Full time Night Shift, normally working 4 shifts per week, Sunday to Wednesday from 20:00 to 06:30
