The Role

To provide expert costs drafting and negotiation support across complex commercial litigation matters, ensuring accurate, timely, and strategically aligned cost documentation. The role is pivotal in driving successful cost recovery outcomes, maintaining compliance with evolving case law, and enhancing client satisfaction through meticulous attention to detail and proactive communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting Bills of Costs, Costs Budgets (Precedent H), and Points of Reply in commercial litigation matters
  • Preparing and assessing costs schedules for high claims
  • Negotiating costs settlements directly with opposing parties and clients
  • Liaising with solicitors, fee earners, and clients to ensure accuracy in costing documentation
  • Supporting the team in cost recovery strategies and advocating best practices in costs management
  • Keeping up to date with costs-related case law and legislative changes
  • Supporting more junior team members
Requirements
  • 4 years in costs drafting, preferably in drafting bills of costs for complex, high-value cases
