About The Role

We are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Engineer with a specialism in Instrumentation and Controls to join our Engineering and Facilities Team at our Hoddesdon site. In this role you will carry out timely, consistent and compliant engineering and maintenance operations across the Site, enabling the Engineering and Facilities Department to deliver an efficient and effective service to the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficiently conduct corrective and preventative instrumentation maintenance activities originating from work generated by the Computer Maintenance Management system.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns.
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are completed on time.
  • Proactively identify maintenance plan improvements, working with the Engineering Workshop Supervisor to ensure all maintenance PM plans remain relevant, technically correct and compliant.
  • Ensure all documentation of maintenance activities are to GxP standards in paper records and in the Computer Maintenance Management System, and that accurate reports are generated.
  • Work on small projects where required, including design/installation and commissioning or minor systems (new or alterations).
  • Seek new, innovative and cost-effective methods of completing the work without compromising safety or quality.
  • Maintain sufficient stock of materials, equipment and parts to carry out requisite work, and identify low stocks for restocking.
  • Ensure work is carried out to the highest standards of safety and address potential hazards proactively, reporting issues to management for prompt action.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to minimize disruptions and keep them informed of progress and completion targets.
Candidate Profile
  • Formal Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Post-apprenticeship experiences as an Instrumentation/Controls Multi Skilled Technician
  • City and Guilds accredited or equivalent recognised formal qualification in core engineering discipline (desirable)
  • Broad-based knowledge and interest in engineered systems and maintenance
  • Understanding of GxP principles
  • Knowledge of temperature, humidity and pressure instrument loops, supporting BMS monitored HVAC, reactor systems, stability chambers/cold rooms and room pressure cascades
  • Experience with Purified Water systems, agitator speed sensors, MCERT flowmeters and VOC gas analysers (beneficial)
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good documentation, record keeping and ability to produce succinct reports
  • Good interpersonal skills and customer-focused
  • Extremely safety-conscious
  • Helpful, responsive and committed to delivering the very best
  • Team-playing whilst proactive and a self-starter
Desirable Requirements
  • GMP manufacturing equipment
  • Recognised formal qualification in secondary control discipline or equivalent experience in Control Systems
  • Knowledge of high integrity PCS and PLC programming would be desirable
