Multi Site Technician

Job Purpose

This is a key position, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a number of site locations within a specified region.

To carry out planned and reactive maintenance and repairs to a range of electrical, mechanical and building assets in ASDA stores in an efficient and cost‑effective manner, whilst complying with the specified Company Health and Safety procedures.

Assets Covered

• Bakery and catering equipment, mechanical and electrical systems and assets, lighting systems, building fabric, water services and other static and portable electrical equipment. General maintenance and first‑look required for all HVAC, Fire and Security, and electrical and general issues.

Key Accountabilities

• Represent the company professionally at all times and develop good working relationships with City and ASDA colleagues.
• Complete all necessary PPMs, ensure all PPM remedial tasks are accurately logged and actioned, ensuring legal compliance.
• Supervise the Maintenance Assistant (MA), provide regular coaching and support to perform the role in line with company processes.
• Respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk and assess the requirements of the job.
• Prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and contract SLA’s.
• Communicate with ASDA Store Management teams and the RES regarding any repair and maintenance issues that may affect store operations.
• Carry out surveys and complete reports as required.
• Implement alterations and installations within technical competence and in accordance with current specifications.
• Handle general repairs and maintenance to ASDA store sites, e.g., building fabric and surfaces.
• Assist other MSTs in other stores/regions when requested by the RES.
• Recruit and select suitably qualified and experienced MA to ensure continuous service delivery, following company recruitment processes and policies.
• Maintain accurate administration, record jobs live and utilise time effectively.
• Attend training courses as necessary and ensure technical skills remain current, which may include overnight stays.
• Comply with the company Health and Safety Policy at all times.
• Ensure compliance documentation is completed to required quality standards.
• Ensure team members attend and complete mandatory training, including induction programmes and eLearning modules within required timescales.
• Provide on‑the‑job coaching and support to the team to enable performance to required standards.
• Deliver technical coaching solutions, ensuring participation and active encouragement of learning.
• Complete all induction and training administration, including probationary reviews to confirm team competence and awareness of performance.
• Participate in an Out‑of‑Hours standby rota (min 1 week in 4) and complete general repairs to plumbing systems and drainage during Out‑of‑Hours Standby.
• Carry out basic repairs to plumbing systems and drainage during Out‑of‑Hours Standby.
• Carry out first‑look for equipment such as Fire and Security, HVAC, electrical and general issues.
• Comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the RES or other City Management Team.

People Responsibility

• Interview, recruit, oversee and manage the Maintenance Assistant/Mobile Maintenance Assistant and Multi‑Site Maintenance Assistant as recruited against the stores they cover.
• Update Cascade, manage holidays and absence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Essential

• GCSE standard or equivalent.
• Level 3 core Electrical qualification (e.g., C&G 2382, C&G 2330, C&G 2365, C&G 2391).
• Familiarity with completion of electrical certification.
• Time served in electrical discipline or relevant industry experience in a similar role.
• 3‑phase electrics and its applications.
• Ability to manage and support team members.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Helpful/friendly manner.
• Customer focused.
• Self‑motivated.
• Ability to maintain/repair a range of electrical and mechanical equipment to recognised standards.
• General plumbing and building experience.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.

• Willingness to work flexible hours.

• Experience in a large retail environment such as ASDA.
