Job summary

A manufacturing company in Portsmouth is seeking a Technical Hand for their Mouldshop. The role requires ensuring material flow to machines, operating moulding machines, and maintaining cleanliness of the work area. Candidates should have experience in a Mouldshop environment, good communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Training for a crane/forklift license is provided if needed. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team in a pivotal operational role.

Qualifications

  • Good communication and numerical skills are essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure material flow to all Mouldshop machines throughout the shift.
  • Act as an operator to the mould presses when required.
  • Keep tooling, presses and areas clean and organized.

Job description

To provide support as a Technical Hand to the Mouldshop across the following three areas.

Materials Department – To ensure material flow to all Mouldshop machines is maintained throughout the shift

Tool Hanging – to fill in and support the Tool Hanging function alongside the Setting team as and when required

Operating - To act as an operator to the mould presses, when required

You’ll be expected to be responsible for, stand in, or assist in the above areas – discussed on a daily basis with the Setting Supervisor or Moulding Dept. Manager

To safety prepare tools – locate, load, connect – Ready for handover to the Setters

To assist production in any tooling/moulding machine related matters as necessary

Operate Moulding machines as required

Support the Mouldshop from the Materials Department to ensure continuous supply of Polymer to the Mould machines

To collect and return tooling to storage areas and update our system to show location

Keep tooling, presses and ancillary areas clean, tidy and organised in accordance with 5S methodology

Able to enter accurately data onto our system for mouldings produced and scrapped

Ensure the mouldings produced are to the quality standard required

Adhere and follow the work instructions

Any other reasonable task as specified by the Setting Supervisor or Moulding Dept. Manager

Experience Knowledge & Skills

Experience/Understanding of working in a Mouldshop Environment (Or similar)

Ability to hang and load mould tools would be an advantage

Crane/Forklift license would be an advantage (Training will be provided)

Good communication and numerical skills

Understanding of MRP systems would be an advantage

Understanding of stock managements, quality control

Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadline

Ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels
