Materials and Welding Engineer – Groupe GISMIC

We are looking for an experienced Materials & Welding Engineer to join our team for a major subsea project within the Oil and Gas sector. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high‑profile, technically complex programme and work alongside a skilled, multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

You will provide specialist expertise in materials selection, welding engineering and qualification activities, with a strong focus on subsea systems and components. Your input will be vital in ensuring technical integrity and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the SPS Technical Lead on all welding, materials, and metallurgy‑related matters.
  • Assist the SPS Package Lead during the execution phase, ensuring technical consistency and high‑quality delivery.
  • Take responsibility for all welding and material issues within the SPS scope of supply.
  • Ensure full compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and HSE rules.
  • Work closely with Company Site Representatives and Third‑Party Inspectors to review welding and material aspects of design and fabrication activities.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, technical reviews, and resolution of fabrication or materials‑related challenges.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong background in welding engineering, including WPS/PQR development, subsea welding processes, metallurgy, and CRA/dissimilar welds.
  • Solid materials engineering expertise with subsea material selection, corrosion mechanisms, and mitigation strategies.
  • Good knowledge of key industry codes and standards (API, DNV, ASME, ISO, NACE).
  • Familiarity with NDT methods and inspection oversight, including review of ITPs and coordination with third‑party inspectors.
  • Experience supporting fabrication activities, resolving welding/materials issues, and assisting with FAT/SIT activities.
