Job summary

A leading innovation organization in Sedgefield seeks an experienced Electronics Manager to provide technical leadership in HealthTech projects. Why this role is important for CPI’swork

CPI has an exciting opportunity for an experienced electronics manager to join our Photonics and Electronics team, providing high-level technical leadership and expertise, managing and developing ahigh-performing team of engineers and production technicians to deliver agreed programmes of work to required standards. The Manager will act as technical lead in medium / large scale projects within avariety of HealthTech fields, such as IVD , wearables, sensor technologies, connectivity and drug delivery devices. The Manager will offer innovative solutions at technology team level (primarily centering around microcontroller based design of wireless and low power sensor systems), contributing extensively to development and improvement activities, identifying and addressing future needs of the team in order to deliver on area strategy.

  • Leading on and delivering projects involving electronics, and production from concept to production, ensuring customer needs andcost.
  • Supervising, mentoring and developing ateam of high-performing engineers and production technicians, fostering acollaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Feeding into CAPEX and OPEX budgeting
  • Actively contributing to aculture of continuous capability development through coaching, mentoring and/or developing colleagues across the technology team and organisation, providing insights into areas of specialism.
  • Building, maintaining and utilising anetwork of relevant external stakeholders, customers, partners, research organisations and authorities, to represent CPI and self as acredible expert, identifying opportunity for future projects and developments.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including other technology centres, and quality assurance, to integrate electronics and production processes into new and existing medical devices.
  • Acting as acredible partner to the Bid Development teams, being actively involved in defining and advising on the technical elements of abid, in order to develop aprogramme of works and direct customer engagement. Seeking out and engaging in business development opportunities where appropriate.
  • Being accountable for providing clearly documented records of technical data, decisions, methodologies, calculations and software use in an agreed format.
The person we are seeking

The Person

The successful candidate will be educated to aminimum of HNC / Foundation Degree level (or equivalent) in aScientific / Engineering discipline, have significant industrial experience at asenior leveland;

  • Have successfully completed formalised management training / managerial development programme, or has equivalent experience
  • Possess significant, technical expertise in integration and assembly techniques, as well as acompelling evidence of complex technical problem solving.
  • Possess significant, technical expertise in Electronics engineering, as well as compelling evidence of complex technical problem solving.
  • Exhibit professional mastery of principles and practices in integration and electronics assembly, and systems design and development gained through career to date in area of expertise.
  • Be able to demonstrate evidence of building knowledge sharing and network building practice across teams and organisations to achieve desired results.
  • Actively demonstrates in-depth technical and theoretical knowledge in integration and electronics assembly and can participate at high level in more than one area. Is viewed as an authority in at least one area by peers and managers.
  • Be able to take responsibility for diverse or complex technical activities where it is necessary to use own initiative and judgement, implementing innovative solutions in business-critical situations.
  • Possess sound experience of supervising agroup or team within an operational environment and experience of managing performance within theteam.

It would also be advantageous if the successful candidate had asupervisory or management qualification and;

  • Held chartered status with arelevant professional institution.
  • Was an active member of aprofessional body, engaging with peers beyond CPI.
