Purpose of the Job
Nash College are seeking an exceptional person to take on the role of Maintenance Assistant. You will be part of the on-site Estates Team ensuring the site & buildings are compliant, maintained to a high standard and adhere to Health & Safety requirements. A flexible approach and problem‑solving skills are needed for this exciting role. To work with the Estates & Domestic Manager (EDM) as a member of the maintenance team, assisting with general maintenance, servicing and security, ensuring the site is fit for purpose to meet the exceptional needs of the students.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that the College Campus, buildings and equipment are well maintained to a high standard and adopt a proactive approach to all aspects of the role.
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Guarantee that all works allocated, including periodic servicing, are carried out in accordance with the EDM and policy and procedure, keeping the college compliant with relevant regulations and documentation available and up to date for external assessors.
- Assist the EDM with organizing contractors on site, carry out Helpdesk requests, assist other members of the maintenance team, and attend emergencies and call‑outs.
- Give high priority to all maintenance issues relating to Health & Safety and proactively address any other site risks or hazards.
- Undertake general maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, decorating, minor building works and refurbishments.
- Maintain site security, including CCTV, gates, perimeter boundaries, ensuring external doors and windows are operational and the site is securely maintained.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are regularly maintained, used appropriately and safely returned to the workshop.
- Keep the work area including the workshop clean and tidy at all times.
- Maintain all fencing across the site to ensure College premises and grounds are secure, safe, and in good condition.
- Cut and water lawn grass weekly during spring and summer, and as needed in colder months.
- Be responsible for and evidence own personal development by undertaking relevant training, attending meetings, conferences and events, keeping up to date with all matters relevant to the role within your Personal Development Plan agreed with your manager.
- Carry out additional duties and tasks that may be required within the range of the responsibilities of the post.

Qualifications and Experience
- Sound level of general education.
- Good eye for detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Some IT skills necessary, ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines via the helpdesk system.
- Experience as a general handyman and/or having a trade.
- Some compliance experience.
