Job description
Job Overview

The successful candidate will be proficient in transthoracic echocardiography and ideally hold an accreditation in either EACVI (Paediatric), or BSE Congenital or adult or equivalent. This role is unique because we offer the successful candidate an opportunity to be trained in paediatric and congenital echocardiography, where they do not hold this qualification. We will support them towards passing their examination and collecting cases for their logbook, to be sat with either the EACVI or the BSE. We will fund the accreditation process (the first attempt), according to the examination dates and individual progression the candidate with the logbook after the post has finished (eg. Sign DOPS).

Responsibilities
  • Support the routine clinical activities such as our busy Outpatient in our one-stop clinic, the inpatient services, or booked outpatient echo service. Receive support and training in the highly technical field of paediatric and congenital TTE from our specialist team of highly trained echocardiographers, in both practical echocardiography and reporting of echocardiograms. Provide support to the department in other ways as specified in the job description as expected of a band 7 echocardiographer.
  • \ technical proficiency in a wide range of Echo techniques and actively maintain competency in these.
  • Act as a technical specialist in Echocardiography, providing technical and clinical information as required; primarily to Physiologist colleagues, Cardiologists and Cardiac Surgeons in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Assist with the day to day running of the Echo service, actively contributing to the smooth running of a quality service to patients.

Training and Support

We will support them towards passing their examination and collecting cases for their logbook. We will fund the accreditation process and continue to support the candidate with the logbook after the post has finished.
