Job summary

A local council in Crewe is seeking a passionate Librarian for a part-time position averaging 13.25 hours per week. Essential Requirement

Applicants should ideally hold a recognised librarian qualification and must demonstrate experience working in a public library setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of library programmes and initiatives particularly around children’s activities
  • Provide excellent customer service to library users of all ages
  • Support access to books, digital resources, and Council services
  • Promote literacy and lifelong learning through events, outreach, and partnerships
  • Manage and maintain library collections and resources
  • Assist users with digital technology and information literacy

The ideal candidate will be passionate about libraries and community engagement, with strong communication and organisational skills. You’ll be confident using digital tools and supporting others in their use. Flexibility is key, as the role will require working alternate Saturday mornings.

Hours

The 13.25-hour post is worked over a two-week timetable:

Week 1

Mon: 1.15 – 6.00pm
Fri: 2.00 – 6.00pm
Sat: 8.45 – 1.00pm

Week 2

Mon: 11.00 – 6.00pm
Wed: 10.30 – 6.00pm

Average of 13.25 hours per week.
