Job description
Legal Counsel

Frazer-Nash Consultancy is seeking an experienced solicitor to join our busy Legal Team. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Legal and provide legal advice and support to the business at all levels across a broad range of sectors.

The Legal Team’s objective is to be a trusted adviser to the business, providing strong, pragmatic and timely legal counsel that takes commercial considerations into account. We work extensively on projects spanning Defence and Energy and the role involves reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements, preparing precedent documents and supporting internal projects.

We are particularly interested in candidates with extensive experience advising in the energy sector and/or on intellectual property matters. Experience as part of an in‑house team would also be beneficial.

Essential Requirements
  • A qualified solicitor with at least 5 years PQE either in private practice or in‑house.
  • Experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including supply terms, framework agreements, MoUs, joint venture agreements and subcontracts.
  • Ability to provide training and guidance to team members and the business on relevant legal developments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with project teams, senior management and external parties.
  • Strong ability to work to challenging timeframes and under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently while showing strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to collaborate.
  • Experience supporting the training and development of junior team members.
Beneficial Requirements
  • Advice on intellectual property issues, including strategic guidance, patent applications and the MOD IP DEFCONs.
  • Contracts within the energy and/or defence sector.
  • Government Framework Agreements, NEC contracts and MOD DEFCONs.
  • IR35/Off Payroll Working rules.

  • Legal aspects of developing and supplying products.

Due to the nature of our work, candidates will be required to undergo pre‑employment screening and must satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
