Job summary

A primary school in England is seeking a caring and motivated Learning Mentor to focus on speech and language development. The successful candidate will work with pupils one-on-one and in small groups to deliver interventions, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers and specialists. Ideal candidates will communicate effectively and are committed to inclusion. Experience with children and a background in speech support are desirable but training will be provided. Qualifications

Job description
Overview

Repton Manor Primary school is seeking a caring, motivated Learning Mentor with a focus on Speech and Language to join our supportive and inclusive team.

The successful candidate will work with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis to deliver targeted speech, language and communication interventions, helping to remove barriers to learning and promote confidence, independence and inclusion.

The role will involve:
  • Delivering structured speech and language interventions under the guidance of the SENCo and class teachers
  • Supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) in and out of the classroom
  • Monitoring and recording progress against individual targets and support plans
  • Working collaboratively with staff and external professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists
  • Acting as a positive role model and supporting pupils’ social and emotional development
We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience working with children, ideally supporting speech, language or SEND needs
  • Communicates clearly and sensitively with pupils and adults
  • Is calm, patient, organised and enthusiastic
  • Is committed to inclusion and improving outcomes for all learners

Experience or training in speech and language support is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
