Job summary

A regional educational support provider in Melton Mowbray is looking for candidates to support learners with specific learning difficulties in adapting to academic demands. The role includes providing notetaking assistance, developing organizational skills, and offering mobility support when needed. Candidates should have GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above and experience in supporting disabled individuals. Flexibility in working hours from Monday to Friday during term time is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting disabled people or people with Specific Learning Differences in education and/or in the workplace.

Overall purpose of role

To support learners across a range of courses in‑class in adapting to the academic demands of Further Education. These learners will have a specific learning difficulty or disability which may include Dyslexia, Autism and ADHD. The support provided by a successful candidate includes providing notetaking in lessons, developing learner organisational skills, and support with practical cujo aspects of study such as using the library.

The learner may also need mobility, orientation, sighted assistance and access support on and around campus, if this is the case it is your role to provide this support. Under no circumstances is it your job to provide personal care for your learner, your role is purely academic.

The learner may also be carrying out field work in varying weather conditions, as part of their course, you may be working outside with learners studying agriculture and animal management courses.
