About the role:
Day-to-Day Support: Assist with daily routines, supporting individuals to live as independently as possible while promoting choice and control over their lives.
Personal Care: Provide support with personal care needs when required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Health & Wellbeing: Support with health care needs, including accompanying individuals to routine medical appointments and managing medication as required.
Life Skills Development: Support individuals with budgeting, shopping, paying bills, and other essential life skills.
Social & Emotional Support: Encourage the development of social skills and emotional resilience, helping individuals engage in hobbies, community activities, and skills development.
Domestic Support: Assist with light domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and ensuring a clean and safe living environment.
Tailored Support: Work closely with the individuals and their support network to create personalized care plans and goals, ensuring each individual’s needs are met.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience in Learning Disabilities Care: Previous experience working with people who have learning disabilities is essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked in supported living or residential care environments.
Compassionate and Person-Centered: You should have a compassionate approach to supporting individuals with learning disabilities, understanding their unique needs and helping them feel valued and respected.
Flexibility & Teamwork: Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with colleagues, families, and other professionals to provide the best possible care and support.
Life Skills Teaching: Experience in teaching and supporting people to develop essential life skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and social interaction.
Strong Communication Skills: You will need to communicate effectively with individuals, their families, and other professionals, including those involved in care planning and goal setting.
