# Lead Squad CoachOrganisation:: South Croydon Swimming ClubContract Type:: Self-EmployedQualifications:: Water Safety: RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC): Coaching Swimming: Swimming Coach Certificate or Level 2 AwardWorking Hours:: Part timeLocation:: CroydonSalary:: £25 per hourClosing Date:: 11th April 2026 23:59Job Reference:: Lead CoachSouth Croydon Swimming Club in Greater London is currently seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Lead Squad Coach to support our Head Coach and lead a squad of approximately 24 swimmers aged 13–17, with aspirations to qualify for County and Regional competitions.This role is ideal for a motivated coach who can support swimmer development, maintain good training standards, and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and performance-aspired club environment.**The Role**As Lead Squad Coach, you will be responsible for planning and delivering quality training for your squad, supporting swimmers through their journeys, and working collaboratively with the Club’s coaching team and volunteers.**Key Responsibilities*** Plan, deliver, and evaluate pool training sessions for your squad* Write suitable training sets (with guidance from the Head Coach where needed)* Provide technical feedback and skill development to all swimmers* Support swimmers at competitions, galas, and club events* Complete administrative tasks and maintain swimmer records as required* Provide coaching cover for other squads when necessary* Work closely with swimmers, parents, coaches and the club committee* Maintain safety, professionalism, and uphold the Club’s values at all times* The role will involve up to approximately up to 14 hours per week poolside coaching commitment.* Additional administrative hours and gala attendance will be paid separately at an agreed rate.Qualifications and Skills Required:* Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate (or equivalent – ASA Level 2 Coaching Award)* Swim England-approved Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to complete)* Ability to work a combination of evenings, early mornings, and weekends* Availability to attend competitions (as required)* Teachers rescue certificate or equivalent (ability to obtain)* UK driving license desirable and the ability to travel to our training venues across the Borough of Croydon through independent means* Right to work in the UK* Undergo Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)**What We Offer:*** A supportive and welcoming coaching team* Opportunities for personal growth and gaining experience* The chance to make a meaningful impact on young swimmers* Flexible, part-time working hours (discussed with suitable candidates)* We reserve the right to close applications sooner than the closing date if we find the right candidateThe current timetable that we would require the successful candidate to attend (but we are flexible in our approach, and this is to be agreed) is:* Monday - 7.30-9pm Waddon LC, CR0 4RG* Tuesday 7.30-9pm Warlingham School Pool, CR6 9YB* Wednesday 6-7.30am Waddon LC, CR0 4RG* Thursday 6-7.30am Waddon LC, CR0 4RG – 5.30-9pm Warlingham School Pool, CR6 9YB* Friday 7.15-9.30pm Waddon LC, CR0 4RG* Sunday 12-3pm Caterham School Pool, CR3 6YA## How to applyPlease send the following by the closing date:* a cover letter including a personal statement about why you would like to join our team, addressing the essential criteria and why you believe your skills, experience and values meet the required position* your CV with all necessary experience and coaching qualifications* and the name and contact details of two refereesContact phone## Required QualificationsThis vacancy may require the following qualifications:* Water Safety: RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)* Coaching Swimming: Swimming Coach Certificate or Level 2 Award
