Lead Procurement Manager – Property
We have a great opportunity for a Lead Procurement Manager to join a successful team at Tesco, leading and developing various elements of the Property category including the Building Fabric Maintenance (BFM) strategy. The role works closely with partners across property, distribution, retail and customer teams.
About the role
The Lead Procurement Manager manages a team responsible for shopfitting, shelving, main contractors, furniture and signage. The role is accountable for procuring all categories related to building fabric maintenance, such as glazing, roofing, winter gritting, landscaping and pest control.
You will be responsible for
- Delivering high savings targets through robust sourcing events and ensuring suppliers meet operational requirements while providing the best value to Tesco.
- Maintaining positive supplier and colleague relationships to support category procurement strategies and realise business savings.
- Developing and delivering procurement strategies and award recommendations that align with Tesco’s business objectives.
- Working with stakeholders to write and deliver the procurement category plan for BFM, supporting the extensive development programme across all formats.
- Consistently tracking and reporting savings targets for specified sub‑categories.
- Leading supplier reviews and acting as the point of contact for contract‑related issues.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders and procurement teams across other business areas and subsidiaries (e.g., Booker & Tesco CE) to drive group efficiencies and savings.
- Gathering market intelligence and analyses to identify alternative suppliers, new developments and efficiencies.
- Identifying cost savings and optimisation levers using data and insights to make informed decisions.
- Following the Code of Business Conduct and ensuring due diligence and ethical checks are completed.
- Leading a team and conducting performance reviews, including regular 1:1s and objective setting.
You will need
- Procurement expertise with experience in managing GSNFR categories.
- Background in construction or building procurement preferred.
- Strong leadership skills to lead and mentor a team of Procurement Managers, including overseas colleagues.
- Experience developing talent to grow capability and skillset.
- Procurement, contract management and negotiation skills, plus experience with large multi‑million pound sourcing events.
- Ability to bring new concepts and ideas to life and engage senior colleagues.
- Capability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, driving innovation across the category.
