At David Allen Accountants, we are incredibly passionate about people, and are committed to helping our staff progress in their career journey. As such, we are currently looking for candidates to undertake a L3 Assistant Account Apprenticeship with the firm. This is an excellent opportunity for any budding accountant to take the first step of their career journey, learning fundamental accountancy skills in a workplace as well as college environment.

Aims and purpose of the job

You will gain practical experience working within the Accounts Team, where you will prepare year-end financial statements for a variety of clients. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting your team with day-to-day financial tasks. This role will allow you to build a strong foundation in accounting, develop key organisational and communication skills, whilst your apprenticeship will underpin your practical skills with the core knowledge of accountancy.

About the Apprenticeship

As part of the L3 Accounts Assistant Apprenticeship (AAT), you will learn the fundamentals of accounts and VAT return preparation, gradually progressing to drafting accounts, tax computations, and VAT returns. Your technical knowledge will come from on-the-job training, in-house development sessions, and studying for the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting qualification. You’ll become proficient in accounting software, Excel, and Outlook, while also developing core skills like analysis, problem-solving, and communication. As your confidence grows, you’ll take on more complex tasks, including preparing management accounts.
