You’ll learn on the job, developing your knowledge and skills in an area that interests you while working towards your apprenticeship qualification with one of our learning providers.

WHY JOIN THIS SCHEME?

Are you a natural organiser with a passion for media? The Junior Production Coordinator Apprenticeship at the BBC could be your perfect start. You may help with the set‑up of filming on location or in the studio for programmes such as The One Show, or schedule crews and freelancers for Women’s Hour. No media experience or qualifications needed – just enthusiasm and problem‑solving skills. Whether you’re finishing school or changing careers, this hands‑on role offers a pathway into production management at one of the world’s leading broadcasters.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM?

BBC Wales – Sport brings audiences the excitement of Wales’ biggest sporting moments, from international football and rugby to EFL matches and global events like the Commonwealth Games. As a Production Coordinator Apprentice you’ll support the planning and delivery of these broadcasts, helping the team bring world‑class sport to audiences in Wales and beyond.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Organise logistics for live sports coverage, including travel and equipment for crews.
  • Assist with planning and preparation for broadcasts in studios and at stadiums.
  • Support production teams during live and recorded output, ensuring resources are in place.
  • Help coordinate schedules and manage information across the production team.
  • Contribute to projects that make our sports coverage efficient, engaging and audience‑focused.

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for job roles such as a Production Management Assistant, Production Secretary or Production Coordinator, depending on experience both inside and outside of the BBC.

YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Brilliant organisational skills with strong problem‑solving and negotiating abilities.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Resilient, responsible and calm under challenging situations.
  • Flexible, motivated and adaptable to changing workloads.
  • Able to manage multiple deadlines and demands on your time.
  • Enthusiastic self‑starter, ready to work out of hours when required.

Unlike many roles, we do not focus on formal qualifications; we seek potential and transferable strengths. This scheme is aimed at non‑graduates. If you hold a degree, consider other opportunities on the BBC careers site.

  • Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026.
  • Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start.
  • Be legally eligible to work full‑time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Not currently enrolled in another apprenticeship programme.
  • For candidates under 19 at the start, have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent functional skills).

To apply, you must also:

  • Have a passion for production management rather than the creative content side.
