Our Role

Reporting to the Senior Buyer on Knitwear, you will support in developing and driving the success of our Daywear Knitwear and Knitted Loungewear collections. You will contribute to the strategy, sourcing, and development of the range, ensuring it aligns with both brand vision and commercial objectives.

This is a pivotal role within our largest Daywear category and requires a proactive, commercially-minded individual with a strong eye for product and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll be doing
  • Support the Senior Buyer in developing an exciting and commercial knitwear range, from concept through to delivery, aligned with the brand DNA and seasonal strategy.
  • Analyse sales performance, identify opportunities, and take appropriate actions to maximise profitability.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure we offer premium product, at affordable prices whilst achieving set dept margins.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of the range in line with the critical path, aiming to meet a 90% availability target.
  • Work closely across function (Design, Technical & Merchandising) to ensure a balanced, profitable and aspirational range is delivered.
  • Present with confidence and impact in key meetings, including trade reviews, sign-offs, and discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and react to market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity to inform buying decisions.
  • Manage and support junior team members, providing guidance and fostering their development.
  • Maintain an organised, detail-focused approach to all administrative and commercial processes.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to keep all stakeholders informed.
What skills & experience you will need
  • Previous experience as a Junior Buyer in Womenswear or as a Senior Assistant Buyer, ideally within knitwear category.
  • Passion for product with a strong eye for style, colour, and quality that aligns with The White Company aesthetic.
  • Highly organised and able to manage a large category alongside the Senior Buyer, prioritising tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills – able to interpret sales data and take strategic action.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with confidence working alongside Design, Technical and Merchandising teams, and managing both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven negotiation skills with experience managing supplier relationships.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of the Critical Path, with a meticulous attention to detail and ability to coach and support others in maintaining key deadlines and processes.
  • Experience presenting in key product meetings.
  • Prior line management experience – ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Positive, solutions-focused attitude, with a flexible and collaborative approach.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Microsoft Office.
