The role of Junior Business Development Associate

A Junior Business Development Associate will work as part of the Business Development team to support new sales opportunities, assisting in boosting growth and sales revenue of the company. The successful candidate will play a key part within a strong performing sales team helping to originate and secure new business mandates across multiple asset classes and European jurisdictions. To be successful in your role the candidate will have demonstrated a strong work ethic, the ability to work collaboratively in a team, acted as key support to senior team members, learned about the financial instruments we administer and their operational impact, and helped to create a best‑in‑class working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of business leads and introductions to maximise income growth
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of the Business Development teams business strategy
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of calling plans
  • Undertake market research to identify areas of opportunity to increase GLAS’s market share and new target clients
  • Assist in creating brand recognition and awareness by working closely with product and delivery partners to market the full range of GLAS’s products and services
  • Attendance at external loan/bond market related conferences for market knowledge and networking opportunities ensuring a write‑up of key points is undertaken and distributed
  • Review of external market publications disseminating key information across the Business Development team
  • Work closely with Marketing to create pitch material for Senior BD colleagues to present at client meetings
  • Arrange and coordinate client entertainment and networking events
  • Accompany Senior BD colleagues to meeting opportunities ensuring production and distribution of call reports to be undertaken after each client meeting
  • Preparation and delivery of fee proposals on new opportunities, liaising with other Business Development colleagues to ensure consistency in pricing
  • Daily monitoring of outstanding fee proposals issued ensuring periodic follow‑ups occur
  • Assist in the improvement of the client experience by following a won mandate from inception to close
  • Assist in transaction oversight to ensure the respective GLAS deal team is lined up to deliver a smooth close
  • Present weekly updates of deal and meeting activity to the head of EMEA Business Development at each sales meeting
  • Ensure accurate and up to date MI is consistently kept using internal CRM and reporting systems i.e. Insightly
  • Delivery of accurate MI to Senior Management on a monthly/quarterly basis on the financial performance and key sales metrics
  • Assist in the analysis and reporting on GLAS’s Loan and Bond book, looking at deal parties, asset classes, sectors, geographic locations etc.
  • Highlight/ elevate to senior BD colleagues key commercial terms of facility documentation following, referral from Legal/ TMG, that require further negotiation
  • Assist in arranging internal approval for any product or service that is not included in the GLAS Terms of Reference. To include presenting to Senior Management at internal committees
  • Assist in the presentation of recently won mandates at the weekly deal review meeting
  • Stakeholder Management, build/maintain strong internal and external relationships
  • Compile Insightly reports for weekly/quarterly meetings with respective internal teams
  • Work with the existing BD Team to assist with transactions or with meetings/presentations
  • Complete C6 (due diligence) checks on potential new deal parties
  • Spend time with key internal stakeholders to gain a good understanding on GLAS’s service offering and USP’s
Experience and Qualifications
  • A general understanding of the loan and/or the bond markets
  • The candidate ideally would have experience in working in a client facing role
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • The candidate ideally would have a degree relating to finance/the financial markets however this is not a necessity
