IT Services Officer (2nd Line Support)

In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,834 - £30,012 per annum DOE. We are a high‑achieving college attracting around 2,800 sixth‑form students across the region each year, based within the stunning New Forest National Park.

About The Role

As the IT Services Officer (2nd Line Support), you will provide hardware and software support for users of the College’s information technology systems, ensuring staff and students receive the best possible support in accordance with College policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Support 1st line in operating the IT Services Helpdesk and logging all requests in the helpdesk system.
  • Provide 2nd line support for staff and students experiencing problems with any operating systems or applications installed on their workstations, including AV equipment, and escalates unresolved issues to 3rd line support.
  • Maintain the hardware database with accurate, up‑to‑date details of each workstation’s hardware configuration and provide reports on request.
  • Assist in the installation or upgrade of computer hardware, software and network devices, ensuring they are secure, up‑to‑date and configured correctly.
  • Perform fault diagnosis and testing of hardware and network cables, making repairs where possible.
  • Participate in the organisation and implementation of regular maintenance and servicing of equipment.
  • Take effective and timely action in the event of any breach in workstation or network security, reporting it to the IT Services Manager immediately.
  • Collaborate with the IT Services team to arrange and participate in a working rota that provides acceptable support levels for evenings, weekends and off‑term IT activities.
Qualifications
  • A relevant IT qualification.
  • Current experience in an IT support role, supporting current technologies.
  • Experience supporting Apple Mac & PC based systems.
  • The ability to follow section procedures systematically.
  • The ability to work with initiative.
  • High level of customer care and support.
